Maybe it's my Southern heritage that leads me to green beans. I have found that these long slender beans are one of my favorite vegetables to find at the farmers' market. It's also a standard on my Thanksgiving feast menu when I am in charge of cooking. My perfect snack is a simple recipe of blanched green beans then slightly sautéed with sea salt. Fresh and crispare the way I prefer them.

One judge can make a huge difference in many lives—including the lives of immigrants.

In 2015, one federal judge in Texas unilaterally blocked an Executive Order issued by President Obama called DAPA that would have extended a reprieve from deportation and a work permit to 5 million people.  Later that same year, the difference on the federal appeals court was one judge in a 2-1 ruling affirming the decision of that Texas judge.

When I was young girl we had a pomegranate tree in my backyard. The neighborhood kids and I would pluck off the fruit from the tree and bust it open to find all the little seeded jewels inside. We would fill up our hands and pop the plump juiced filled seeds into our mouths and let the juice explode, satisfying our thirst and sweet tooth all in one fall swoop. It's an experience that I still get excited about as an adult. I get giddy at the first signs of pomegranates at the farmers' market. The pomegranate tree is native from Iran to the Himalayas in northern India and has been cultivated since ancient times throughout the Mediterranean region of Asia, Africa and Europe.

In the not so distant past, the controversies around what risk different chemicals such as Glyphosates posed to human health pitted the Federal regulators against the Industry representatives. Now, in this new era, many of the leaders at the Environmental Protection Energy have actually come from the ranks of Chemical Industry lobbyists. Not surprisingly, despite increasing evidence of human toxicity, these regulators seem to be losing interest in limiting human exposure to these potentially dangerous substances.

It’s been a sheep solution: Carefully controlled grazing has eliminated many of the non-native, invasive plants that were choking out flowers and native grasses. Not only that, the sheep have created a significant fire break because the same invasive plants that choke out wildflowers are fast-burning fuel for wildfires.

BREAD…spread it THICK with BUTTER fresh from the oven - Sonoma-Marin Bounty. I have come to the conclusion that what elevates these international hot spot’s breads is their outstanding butters that go along with them.  In the past few years though, there has been a profusion of new local butters. So I called the crew together recently to test them out: A thorough Sonoma County bread and butter tasting, just to see.

If you read the paper or watch the news as it relates to Sonoma County Cannabis, by now you’ve heard these terms: Regenerative, Biodynamic, Organic, Sun-Grown, Light-Dep, and Sustainable Practices. Sure, you know it’s better than the stuff that comes from a warehouse or worse, grown with who-knows-what, added to it. But do you know why it’s better? More importantly, do you know where you can get it?
