I attended a wonderful Benefit Art Show event for the Jewish Community Free Clinic the evening of Sunday January 20, at Gallery 300. With the wonderful and eclectic art show as backdrop, there was an insightful panel discussion about "meaning behind art" with Nancy Bellen (Art & Healing), & Dennis Calabi (Art & Politics) Calabi Gallery and renowned artist Mary Vaughan. Several wonderful Sonoma County artists are showing; gallery owner and artist Jennifer Hirshfield, Christie Marks, Maggie Gallimore, Tony Speirs, Mary Vaughan, Terry Sauve, Alejandro Salazar, Ceylan Crow, and Lisa Beerntsen.

Dan Kabanuck and Billy Korbus are both artists in multiple mediums.  Only recently have these neighbors and friends begun collaborating after discovering the technique of pouring paint (perhaps gleefully) on canvas.  They tell us, “We dove right in.  We love the way every piece is different.  We never know what we will get!”  Their collaboration produces truly exquisite abstracts with delicious color combinations and marvelous visual texture, often reminiscent of marbled paper.

She embodies the word artist. Her life is making art - for decade after decade. In two and three dimensions. She lives and breathes imagination. An artist HAS to make art - that’s Sam.
