Over the past 9 years, our team has raised over $60,000 for the Swim A Mile fundraiser. On Saturday, October 5th, we’ll dive in to the pool at Mills College, with hundeds of other swimmers, and swim our mile for WCRC. For over 32 years WCRC has served as an advocate for women with cancer and their friends and families, providing services for thousands of people in the Bay Area.  71% of every dollar donated to Swim A Mile goes directly to direct client services.

As native carnivores, bobcats (Lynx rufus) are an indicator species of ecosystem health. Yet they face growing challenges as their habitat disappears and human impacts increasingly affect their ability to survive. Fortunately, lawmakers and a coalition of organizations are advancing bills through this session of the California State Legislature that, if passed, would protect bobcats from cruel and senseless killing. AB 1254 passed the Assembly and is scheduled to be heard in Senate Appropriations on August 30. If released, it could hit the Senate floor quickly. Residents can contact their senator and urge a ‘Yes’ vote on AB 1254.
