Peru boasts a rugged coastline to the west, high Andes peaks to the east, lush verdant valleys, tropical rainforests, and the headwaters of the Amazon River to the northeast. The complexity of the Peruvian cuisine reflects the combined natural forces of the land and sea, as always a localized cuisine reflects its environment. A defining moment for the discerning palate is the entry point. The Peruvian entry point is … ceviche! All three Peruvian restaurants in our midsts serve the dish, all with incredible ceviche trio-sampler formats.

Sweet T’s reopened recently. In Windsor (9098 Brooks Rd S, Windsor, CA 95492). It is in the maze of the large shopping complex on the east side of the freeway. Everything about it that was lost to the flames has been redone at the new Windsor location, but brighter and better and more fun and worth seeking out for a visit. Sweet T’s menu is based upon New Orleans’ famed cuisine, but it doesn’t stop there, branching out to other Mid-South staples like Memphis-style pulled pork and Texas’ unique brisket.

Patisserie Angelica. After driving by Patisserie Angelica more times than I can count and not stopping and tasting, I finally visited the Patisserie on a recent Friday and became an instant convert. Jennifer Bice who previously owned Redwood Hill Farm and Creamery and retired as CEO a little while back, officially took ownership of the patisserie January 1st of 2019, from sisters Condra Easily and Deborah Morris who owned and operated the business for 24 years and were ready to retire and move to France.

In March of 2017 Bob Simontacchi (Head Chef), Brandon Parkhurst (Partner and Manager) and Owen Berrett (Partner, manager and elixir mixer) opened Gravenstein Grill in the old charming French Garden location in Sebastopol on Bodega Highway as you head out of town. It’s a place where guests can enjoy superbly crisp fried chicken, reminiscent of mom’s memorable cooking, paired with free wine tasting on Wednesday nights and Comfort Food Mondays with $20 specials to honor the locals.
