Regional Parks is proposing to develop a 19.3 mile long multi-use trail along the Russian River corridor between Mirabel Park and Jenner. The trail would provide a safe walking and cycling alternative for commuters and visitors traveling this congested corridor.

Due to the flood disaster, Sonoma County Regional Parks has canceled two community workshops on a proposed Russian River bicycle and pedestrian trail. The workshops announced for March 9 and 12 in Guerneville will be rescheduled for a later date. Regional Parks is studying the feasibility of building a 19-mile trail from Forestville to Jenner and will be inviting the public to learn more and provide feedback about the project.

At the December 11th public hearing and meeting, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors voted to include the all Class 1 trails - such as West County and Joe Radota Trails - as Regional Parks to afford them the 1,000-foot setback protections from Cannabis operations.

A proposal to build a cannabis grow and processing facility near the West County Trail in Graton has raised questions about the county's land use laws for the fledgling industry. At its December 11 meeting, the Board of Supervisors are expected to decide if the West County Trail and the Joe Rodota Trail should be included in the setback requirement and if the Graton applicant must place its cannabis plants and structures at least 1,000 feet from the trail.
