The Coast MAC and Lower Russian River MAC is established to advise the Board of Supervisors and other County decision makers on local planning and management decisions relating to their respective regions, to provide a regular forum for citizen participation in the formation of advisory recommendations on those decisions, and to provide a bridge for communication between the County and local residents and businesses, and the general public on local government decisions affecting these communities.

Welcome neighbors and the idly curious - I’ve been asked to fill Beth Rudometkin’s sizable boots as informer and commentator regarding what’s transpiring in Guerneville. Nearing a half-century as a ‘local’ I’ve been witness to a sea-change or two and I’m pleased to report we’ve morphed into a big-hearted burg packed with natural beauty,  creative individuals, an enviable climate, and  a ‘sanctuary’  where “acceptance” has replaced “tolerance”.

What do the following have in common: a dedicated but woefully underpaid community college professor; a conniving nephew manipulating his elderly aunt; a most unusual creation story; and vigilante enforcement of handicap parking rules?

So those groovy Guerneville Gators are back in school, so be sure to exercise caution along the roadways and bus stop areas, as our youth are sometimes hard to see from the inside of our vehicles; SLOW DOWN and be AWARE!

Big Brother and the Holding Company was born during the foggy days of 1965, from a gleam in the eyes of Chet Helms of Family Dog and Avalon Ballroom fame. Helms organized the emergent band from jam sessions in an old Victorian house in Haight-Ashbury, says Dave Getz, their drummer since 1966, during our June interview.
