The 2020 Petaluma Crab Feed Season is Here! The commercial crab season has finally opened up in Sonoma County, which is great news for those that enjoy Dungeness Crab as part of their holiday dining tradition. This also means the Crab Feed season is upon us, which means weekend evenings filled with all-you-can-eat crab feeds throughout the Petaluma area, all helping to raise funds for local non-profits and schools. However, before getting started down that road, a quick word of caution that buying crab from sport fishermen is illegal for both you and the fishermen. The state sets limits for both commercial and sport fishermen in an attempt to maintain our dwindling fisheries. Buying poached crab (which is what a sport fisherman is doing when they sell their crab) hurts us all, so please don’t do it.
